In the beginning of 2010, 50 professional dancers from 29 countries gathered in Costa Rica for 10 weeks to participate in a unique project called 50 Days of Flying Low and Passing Through Costa Rica 2010, which took place under the guidance of a renowned pedagogue and choreographer David Zambrano, who also developed the mentioned techniques (passing through, flying low). The group of dancers involved in the Costa Rican project decided to take things further and continue with the research of the improvisation technique passing though in the spin off project 5 of 50. The project has thus far been presented in Havana, Amsterdam, Barcelona, Ljubljana, and Reykjavik. It is Maribor's turn this time.
Passing through is the making of movement compositions, where dancers focus on creating and developing the dynamics for complex systems to present leadership in the form of a group web. The group will create dynamics that will be flexible, complex, getting the group to fit tight together, yet always keeping doors open for the unpredictable. The group moves constantly, transforming the environment of the dance, which is full of pathways and curves, passing through the walls, the floor, even the bodies. Thus the passing through technique creates spontaneous compositions, which depend on particular situations, and in which the group becomes a unified mind, where there is never one person leading or following, since every one is leading or following.
