Dedublarea, my graduation piece, is a reaction to a certain educational system. I've tried to approach dance and its choreographic problematics with irony and distance. This comfort allowed me to place myself lucidly in the middle of quotations, clichés, and references. I've transformed poor examples of choreographic conventions and rules into good and usable material. You never know when frustrations become a source of inspiration.

Mădălina Dan studied at the Choreography High School in Bucharest and at the Choreography Department of the University of Drama and Film in Bucharest, where she also studied playwriting. She was a member of Oleg Danovski Dance Company. In 2008, she received the DanceWeb-Europe Scholarship in Vienna. She is a member of Embassy of, an international collective of dance and performance. She teaches contemporary dance for amateurs in the National Dance Centre in Bucharest. She is one of the initiators of the educational program In2grad, addressed to people interested in dance and performance. Her works include: Need for Speed, Dedublarea, Iluzionistele, Beginning, Middle, End (in collaboration with Andrea Božič and Michael Pinchbeck), The Birthday Party Performance, Dominic Stanca (in collaboration with visual artist Ciprian Muresan), question mark caravan-an intervention. She is currently working on a relational art project I am so glad that you came with visual artist Mircea Nicolae and writer Jean Lorin Sterian.
