Culture is Medium III
Artistic interventions and an exhibition
Culture is Medium is a several years long project initiated by the Maribor Dance Room in 2008. The aim of the project is a constitution of creative dialogue between the wider public and the audiences on the one hand and makers on the other. Culture is after all a medium and a space for expression, communication, critique, integration… The project has this year formed tighter connections with Festival NagiB; in its third stage, the project is positioned into the concrete tissue of the city. Culture is Medium is an ambient project which attempts to activate and transform cultural space with various artistic approaches, formats, and contents. Interviews, slogans, physical actions act as means of communication and carriers of values. Making use of different communication channels, we constitute the city as a creative space, a playground, in which the people of Maribor, passers-by, accidental travellers… act as players. The third stage of the project began in June 2010 and will culminate on September 11th at Grajski Square with an intervention - artistic occupation of the city core. The exhibition of individual interventions will on the one hand act as a documentary presentation of the project and on the other as the opening event of NagiB Festival 2010.
